I’ll be at the Washington Library Association Conference in Tacoma participating in two events! I’ll be signing books with around 40 other authors at the Book Bash on Friday:

WA Authors + WA Libraries = A Perfect Partnership

Hear from a gaggle of Washington state authors and illustrators as they tell the stories behind their newly published picture books, early readers, middle grade novels, and graphic novels. This fast-paced program (think speed dating X book talks) will provide insight into the creators’ research, the palettes they infused into their work, the challenges of addressing sensitive topics, and bumps along the road to publication. There will be time for Q&A, and attendees will have a chance to win signed books.

Please join me and the Kitsap Humane Society to celebrate my newest middle grade graphic novel, Dog Trouble. We will be holding a donation drive for the Kitsap Humane Society starting October 26th at the bookstore, so feel free to drop off donations from this wish list.

Pre order Dog Trouble through Liberty Bay Books and 20% of the proceeds will go to the Kitsap Humane Society and you will also receive some lovely book swag goodies!

SCBWI Illustration Schowcase at the Seattle Convention Center!

I have three pieces at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) exhibit, which will run through July 15. There will be an official “opening” on April 6th with SCBWI members, friends and families for a meet and draw! I will be participating in this fantastic event. Hope to see you there!

I’ll be teaching an upcoming webinar on graphic novels for the Western Washington SCBWI chapter.

Graphic Novels: Using personal experiences to generate story…and how to be brave.

Have you been considering turning your story into a graphic novel, but are deathly afraid of the format? Do you have ideas for a graphic novel, but are unsure on where or how to start? We’ll explore how memoirs or stories inspired by real-life experiences, are a perfect springboard into the medium. We’ll briefly discuss comic-making basics, process, pitching to agents/publishers and how to dive in!
